Refuge for Women is a non-profit, faith based organization providing specialized emergency housing and long-term care for women who have escaped sex trafficking or sexual exploitation. With multiple locations across the U.S., Refuge for Women offers a multi-year continuum care. Our residents receive around the clock care as they progress through evidence-based, trauma-informed programming. We strive to help each woman complete the program with a vision for her future, equipped to succeed and sustain a life marked with dignity and hope.

How can having a shelter dog help a veteran with PTSD?
Scientific evidence of a dog’s impact on humans has been studied for many years. More than 30 years ago, a study produced evidence that the act of petting a friendly and familiar dog lowers a person’s blood pressure, causes the heart rate to slow down, making breathing more regular and causes tensed muscles to relax. All of these add up to reduced stress.

B.I.G. Love Cancer Care was established in February of 2007 in memory of Brooke A. Phillips with one primary focus — easing the childhood cancer journey. B.I.G. Love Cancer Care’s core mission is to meet the most basic and urgent physical, emotional, and financial needs of pediatric oncology and hematology patients and their families.
